The World Health Organization and other public health organizations such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) have concluded that there is no safe level of lead in drinking water and that even low concentrations can cause negative health effects, especially for infants and children.

Description:
Only a base amount of lead has been reported in your area’s water. Though relatively minimal, the World Health Organization and other public health organizations such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) have concluded that there is no safe level of lead in drinking water. It is recommended that a water filtration system be installed to eliminate any possible harm.

Additional Facts:
In Canada and the European Union, the current public health lead limit is under 5 parts per billion (ppb) in drinking water. This is also the level that an NSF International Certified Drinking Water Treatment Unit is required to reduce lead levels to.

Description:
Excessively high lead levels have been reported in your area’s water. It is extremely unsafe and should not be consumed, especially if unfiltered. It is recommended that you find a water filtration system that will ensure your water is as safe as it can be in your home.

Additional Facts:
This is the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) treatment limit. If lead concentrations exceed 15 ppb in 10% of area sampled taps, the local municipality must undertake a number of additional actions to control lead levels. If the treatment options have been exhausted, the municipality must also inform the public about steps they should take to protect their health.
